We’re already eight days into November. Hot diggity! These are the stories that caught our attention this week:
WPMU.org Rocks The Boat
James Farmer, founder of Incsub (the company behind WPMU ORG, WPMU DEV, and Edublogs), wrote a post critical of WordPress and its supposed lack of progress. This sparked a debate in the Advanced WordPress group on Facebook, not to mention the post comments.
Was it a piece of linkbait? Absolutely. Does it raise a point worth discussing? Sure. Was it the right approach? Probably not.
Nothing constructive has come out of this. The post was divisive, prompting responses split between “I agree” and “I disagree”.
New theme from Automattic: Writr
Writr is a minimalist blogging theme created by Automattic for WordPress.com. It’s easy on the eyes and relies heavily on post formats.
Give it a test drive. Writr is now available in the WordPress theme directory for use on self-hosted sites.
WordCamp Edmonton 2013 takes place next Friday!
WordCamp Edmonton is a one-day, two-stream conference taking place on Friday, November 15th at StartUp Edmonton.
How do you learn WordPress?
A post last week on the ManageWP blog addresses a topic that’s near and dear to our hearts: learning WordPress.
Is it better to self-teach or do an online course? Tom Ewer compares the two different approaches, their pros and cons, to help new users decide.
